♦ Then, I will need to get a lawyer.
♦ I will have to go to prison if I break the law like this.
♦ Prison is where people have broken serious laws.
♦ When I am arrested, the police will question me.
♦ The police may ask me where I was on a certain day and time.
♦ The police may talk to other people, they will be called witnesses.
♦ I may have to hand over my belongings. I will get them back when I am released.
♦ I will be kept in a cell, while I wait.
♦ I will be allowed a phone call. I should call my family or close friend.
♦ I may feel scared or upset. I should try to stay calm when I have been arrested.
♦ Sometimes, the police may make a mistake.
♦ I may not have done anything wrong, and the police have made a mistake.
♦ I should answer all their questions, truthfully.
♦ I should stay calm and co-operate. My lawyer will advise me too.
♦ Then, the police will listen to me, and hopefully, soon I’ll be released.
♦ If I get arrested, the police may put me in hand cuffs.
♦ Getting arrested may make me feel sad or angry.
♦ This is ok. But I will remember to try and stay calm.
