This social story is a great read for students who may need some support and help when they want to – or have to – get a job. It helps students understand the benefits of having a job and what they can expect during the process of trying to find a job.

♦ The company may call me for an interview if they like my cv.
♦ For the interview, I should dress smart and arrive early.
♦ In the interview I will be asked lots of questions, I should answer these as best as I can.
♦ I should smile, be confident, kind and keep good eye contact as well as being polite.
♦ I can role play an interview with my family or friends before so I know what to expect.
♦ When the interview is over, I shall thank them and then leave.
♦ If I get the job, they will phone me and let me know,
♦ If I do not get the job, it is ok, I can apply for another job. They might have had lots of people applying for one job.
♦ If I get the job, I will probably have to wear a uniform like everyone else.
♦ I will make sure I am clean and presentable, brushing my teeth, having a wash and brushing my hair.
♦ I should arrive early for my job each day and work to the best of my ability.
♦ Each month I will get paid from my job, some of my money will go on taxes.
♦ Having a job will mean I can make money to buy items that I want.
♦ It also means that I am growing up and becoming an independent adult!
