Hi! In this blog post today I’m sharing my top 10 picture books for Earth Day. We love switching up our library each month and rotating in some new books.. And right now we are all about Earth Day! In this blog post you’ll find links to each of the books along with links to some of my favorite Earth Day activities that I’ll be doing with my students too.

1. Dear Earth
In this book Tessa writes a love letter to the Earth.. My students love following along with this book and honestly getting caught up in how amazing Earth is.

2. The Earth Gives More
This one is probably my favorite book for Earth Day. I’ve even put together a free sensory story script that you can use with this book – you can download it for free here. This book is perfect for learning all about the Earth, through different seasons and how we can take care of it.

3. The Adventures of a Plastic Bottle
This book is perfect as part of your recycling topic. In this book your students will get to follow along with the life and journey of a plastic bottle. We love this one and it’s great for discussing about recycling.

4. Greta and the Giants
With this book, students get to follow the story of Greta Thunberg (Nobel Peace Prize nominee) who has been leading a global movement about the world’s climate crisis. In this book, Greta lives in a forest that is being threatened by giants.. When the forest starts to disappear, Greta needs to find a way to help the animals live in the forest.

5. Love Our Earth
This book is perfect for younger readers. My students love this book and looking for all the different animals through out it. Perfect to add to your Earth Day library!

6. Earth Ninja
We LOVE Mary Nhin and all her books. The Ninja series are perfect for kids – and this one is perfect for Earth Day! In this book Earth Ninja shows us about the difference we can make in the world by doing 3 simple life habits.

7. André Plants a Tree
This is one we recently picked up – and I highly recommend it as part of your Earth Day classroom library! In this book André learns all about how we can take care of our planet.. And he gets to work recycling, reusing and keeping the environment clean. We love this one and highly recommend it for your Earth Day collection!

8. I Can Save the Earth!
In this book your students will get to meet Max the Little Monster. Max leaves the lights on, keeps his computer plugged in, and uses sooo much toilet paper that he clogs the toilet! Until eventually his behavior causes a power outage. There’s no TV, no computer, no video games… So Max heads outside and learns about the world outside and how he can make a difference.

9. What a Waste: Trash, Recycling, and Protecting our Planet
This book is perfect for teaching your students about how our actions can affect our planet. We love using this one to start discussions about the ways we can impact the Earth with what we do.

10. How the Crayons Saved the Earth
We love books about crayons.. So this one was the perfect addition to our Earth Day book collection. In this book students will learn all about pollution.. And what can they do to help? Your students will love this book and it’s another great one to use to start meaningful discussions too.
