In this blog post today I’m sharing my top 10 snowman picture books for kids. I love using the theme of snowmen in my classroom.. And no theme is complete without picture books! I’ve put together my list of top 10 snowman picture books today based on how much my students have enjoyed reading these.

1. Sneezy the Snowman
This is probably one of my favorite snowman books ever to use with my students. Sneeze is cold and to warm up he tries different things like sitting in a hot tub and drinking cocoa.. Then he melts! But it’s ok, because the children know what to do to build him again! This is such a fun book and is perfect to use to kick start your snowman theme.

2. The Biggest Snowman Ever
If you enjoyed ‘The Biggest Pumpkin Ever’ – then you’re going to love this sequel to it! In this story, the Mayor announces a snowman contest. Follow Clayton and Desmond as they try to make the biggest snowman ever! Before teaming up to make the biggest snowman together.

3. Snowmen at Play
This one is another firm favorite with my students. It’s a sticker activity book but has been really popular. It would be a great one for a little holiday gift to students if that’s your thing too! It includes going through mazes and sticker puzzles.. It’s tonnes of fun and perfect for working on a range of skills as part of your snowman theme.

4. The Itsy Bitsy Snowman
My students love this fun rhyming book. It’s like a snowman/winter version of the itsy bitsy spider rhyme and it’s one that my students like to pick up and read a lot!

5. All You Need for a Snowman
My students have so much fun reading this book and passing around all the different props mentioned in the story to build a snowman. This is definitely one that I reach for the most for story time.

6. Snowzilla
In this story, Cami and her brother build the biggest snowman ever – it’s Snowzilla! Lots of people come and visit the town just to see it.. But some people aren’t happy with it! This one is a fun read and has us talking about different opinions too.

7. Snowmen at Night
If you’ve ever wondered what snowmen do at night.. Then this is the perfect story! I love to extend this one and have my students write their own stories about what they think snowmen do at night too.

8. The Biggest, Best Snowman
This one is a bit of an oldie, but still a favorite with my students! This book is all about Nell being told that she is too small to help.. Until she meets some friends in the forest who give her the confidence to build a giant snowman!

9. How to Catch a Snowman
We LOVE the ‘How to Catch..’ book series, so when I saw this one, I knew we had to have it! The snowman has come to life and ran away.. so now we have to try and catch it! A great book to add to your collection.

10. Snow Party
This book is all about the snowmen, snow-women and snow-children who throw a special party when the first snow falls of the first day of winter! We love reading this book and we always finish it off by having our own snow party in the classroom.
