My top 5 books for February that I like to use are;
Duck for President
This book is one of my go-to favorites for teaching about Presidents’ Day in the classroom. My students love it and it’s really easy for me to be able to expand and continue learning with numerous different activities after we’ve finished the story.
2. Groundhog’s Day Off
In this book, the groundhog packs his bags and he sets off for a vacation. My students love the story behind this and following along.. But it’s also a great lesson and reminder for us to appreciate those around us.
3. Love Monster
This book is a firm favorite for my students all year long – not just for Valentine’s Day. Follow the love monster as he sets off to find someone to love him – and only when he’s about to give up does he find what he’s been looking for!
4. Counting on Katherine
I LOVE this book – and so do my students. The book is about Katherine Johnson – a mathematician. She worked for NASA and was able to use her skills for the historic Apollo 11 moon landings – and for Apollo 13 to return home safely. Definitely a must-have in your library.
5. How to Catch the Tooth Fairy
We also like to work on dental health throughout February. And my students LOVE all of the books in the ‘How to catch..’ series. And this one is another big hit with them.
We love reading books in my class – so it was super hard trying to whittle down my list to just 5 of my most recommended for February because there are just so many books that I love to use throughout the month!
