Recently at a conference I was asked “Should teachers shop on Teachers Pay Teachers?” It was a genuine question from a newly qualified teacher who was feeling a little bit lost in all of the work that was about to come her way. We ended up sitting down and having a good long chat about all of the things I have learned throughout my career. And that included about why I think teachers should definitely shop on Teachers Pay Teachers.
And that’s when I thought, maybe more teachers out there have the exact same question as this lady did. So, in this blog post today I’m going to be sharing 5 reasons why I think teachers should be using TpT for their classrooms.
1. You’re Supporting Other Teachers
I think one of the best parts about TpT is that you’re supporting other educators, while also getting some amazing new resources to make your classroom – and life – easier! Not only that, but when resources are made by other teachers.. You know that these will have been tried and tested in classrooms with students already! So no more flipping through textbooks made by people who have never been in a classroom.. Instead you can get classroom tested resources that your students will love.
2. It Will Save YOU Time
I think it very quickly becomes clear when you start work in your classroom just how much time it’s going to take up. And one of the most common struggles that I hear from other educators is just how hard it is to have a healthy work/life balance. So I always encourage teachers to make decisions from the beginning about what they are / are not going to do.. In order to have a healthy work/life balance.
You do not need to be re-creating the wheel, so to speak. No more spending hours at home or even at school before/after your day starts.. Creating resources that you can download in seconds off TpT!
3. There’s FREE Resources Too!
There’s not just paid resources available on Teachers Pay Teachers. There’s also a tonne of free resources that you can try out as well. I like getting a free trial of something before I fully commit. So go check out the free resources you can download and get yourself used to the TpT website and some of the amazing resources that are readily available.
4. Variety and Diversity
There are so many materials available on TpT.. Including various subjects, grades, levels and even teaching styles. Having access to a huge amount of diverse resources helps us to explore different approaches to teaching and learning. It also means that we can try new ideas in our classrooms that cater to the needs and interests of our students.
5. Quality Assured
On TpT, just like on other platforms, there are some great review systems in place. This is where other educators have left feedback on resources that they have tried. You can read this feedback and see what others have said about it. This helps you to make a decision about if a resource is high quality and will be a good fit for your classroom and students. The feedback system also ensures the quality and accuracy of the resources that are being shared.. And this can give you all the confidence that you need to download and/or purchase for your classroom.
