In this blog post I’m going to be discussing 5 ways to earn more money as a teacher. With the rising cost of living, now more than ever, teachers are looking for ways to earn extra money. Although in fairness, this isn’t just teachers. People in careers all around the world are trying to find ways to earn more money.
Hopefully this blog post will give you some ideas to try for earning extra money if this is something you need.
5 Ways
1. Higher Education
If you have the option, I would definitely consider pursuing a higher education for yourself. Whether this is a degree or certification.. Check which ones qualify, but most will often quality for a higher pay grade. Meaning, hopefully, a nice pay rise for you. Although this one does come with some extra work for you to put in to progress.. It does come with a lot of benefits for you too – and it means only working one job, not multiple.
2. Additional Teaching Opportunities
Try to reach out to schools and districts around you who may offer some extra teaching opportunities. This could be things like after-school programs, summer school, tutoring or even coaching! Also, look in your local social media groups. You’ll often find parents in there trying to find tutors for their children, especially towards exam season. And this can be a great way to pick up some extra money throughout the year.
3. Teach Online
There are lots of online platforms that are available out there for teaching or tutoring students. Whether it’s signing up to teach a class online or tutor students.. Or even if you create your own course that you present online. Online learning is more popular now than ever before!
4. Create and Sell Educational Materials
So, this is a little tricky ground because you’re going to want to do your homework on this. Things like commercial licenses for fonts and clipart.. trademark.. copyright.. making your content is original and does not infringe upon anyone else’s intellectual property rights. But there are a lot of platforms available online that you can create and sell materials on.
5. Professional Development
While this one doesn’t necessarily come with an instant pay rise (or maybe it does).. But one of the best ways to be considered for a pay rise within your current role is to make yourself a valuable asset to your school. This can be by attending courses, conferences, workshop and training sessions. By learning new skills and knowledge, you’ll start to stand out to your admin.. And this can help lead to opportunities for higher pay and/or advancements.
By implementing these five strategies that we have discussed in this blog post today, you can increase your earning potential as a teacher and continue to grow as a professional too.
