I’m soo excited to share this apple crumble loaf recipe with you! This is one that I have been playing around with to get just right and I am finally so happy with it! When I shared this on my Instagram stories, loads of you asked for the recipe – so I’ve put it together in this blog post for you!
This crumble loaf is perfect with or without icing on top. For me, I like it without and a side of ice-cream but you can always make it without and just make up a small bit of icing for certain slices – or make it with icing all over the top!
I am not an amazing recipe influencer, so you are not going to find perfect recipe photos here BUT I am sharing my favorite recipes.. And I hope that you will love them too!

Ingredients
The Loaf
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/2 tablespoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/3 of a cup of melted butter
- 2 apples. I like to use Granny Smith apples and I chop them up into small chunks (or you can grate them!)
The Crumble
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 3-4 tablespoons of butter
- 1-2 tablespoons of cinnamon
We are a family who LOVE cinnamon so you may want to reduce these quantities – but for us, they give that perfect cinnamon kick!
Instructions
The Loaf
- Pre-heat your oven to 350°F or 175°C.
- Add your eggs, butter and milk into a mixing bowl. Mix it together.
- In a separate mixing bowl, add your sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Mix it together.
- Fold your flour mixture into your egg mixture gradually and mix together until just combined – don’t overmix.
- Add in the chopped/grated apple.
The Crumble
6. Add your flour, sugar and cinnamon into a bowl. Gradually add the butter. I like a drier, crumbly crumble so I prefer to do this gradually to get the texture that I want.
7. Use your fingers to gently and quickly rub the ingredients into a soft crumble. Don’t overdo it!
Cooking
8. Pour half of your loaf mixture into your loaf tin.
9. Sprinkle a layer of your crumble over the mixture in the loaf tin.
10. Add the rest of the loaf mixture into the loaf pan.
11. Place the remainder of the crumble on top of the loaf mixture.
12. Place in the over for 50-70 minutes. After the 50 mark keep checking every few minutes. Place a toothpick into the loaf and when it comes out clean, it’s ready!
Icing
If you want to add icing on top, mix together mix and some icing powder. Once the loaf has almost fully cooled, pour this across of the loaf. You don’t want it too thick and/or too yummy.
