I am so excited to be sharing some April classroom theme ideas with you today. I’ve always loved using themes in the classroom and I find it makes planning so much easier. But sometimes it can be really overwhelming trying to work out when to do which theme. So, each month on this blog I’m going to be sharing ideas for classroom themes that you can use.
Today, I am sharing my favorite April classroom theme ideas that we love to use – and I think you will too!
1. Easter
I usually start Easter from the middle of March onwards depending on when Easter falls that year. Our schools are generally closed for Easter with school holidays. So I like to make a start in March and sometimes I’ll get it all finished in March – other times, I’ll carry on with the Easter theme for the first couple of weeks in April too.

2. Spring
Spring in general is such a lovely theme to have in the classroom. There is SO much you can do with this theme.. And it’s genuinely one of my most loved times of year. Check out some of our top Spring activities;

3. Earth Day
Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22nd. And this is event is used to help support and protect our environment. I love teaching about Earth Day in the classroom, and will often extend it to longer than just 1 day. It’s so important for us to be teaching our students about how to look after the environment around them and ways that they can help.

4. Gardening
My students love to get outside. And April is the perfect month to get out into the garden and start working on it and enjoying it. There are SO many things you can do for a garden theme, and it’s a great excuse to get outside in the nice weather as much as possible too! 5. Plants
Along with gardening, plants is another great theme to do in April. And it’s another great reason to get outside and enjoy the fresh air too!

6. Caterpillars & Butterflies
Spring is my favorite time of year to work on caterpillars and butterflies. It’s honestly such a lovely theme to do with students of any age. And there’s just so many different activities that you can do. Here are some of the ones we love;

7. Bugs and Insects
Another theme that’s perfect to get outdoors and exploring with your students! Bugs and insects! I don’t know what it is – but my students are always fascinated with this topic. And they love going hunting for different bugs and insects outdoors and checking them off their scavenger hunt list!

8. Recycling

9. Flowers
