What is Growth Mindset?
Before we start, I just want to give a quick introduction to what growth mindset is.
Growth mindset is the belief that intelligence and ability levels can be developed through dedication and hard work. When we promote growth mindset, we are encouraging our students to embrace challenges.. But we also help them to view any failures as opportunities to learn and grow.. Helping them to reach their full potential.
Growth mindset helps to foster a love for learning and a positive learning experience. It also helps to our students to develop a positive attitude towards themselves and their education/learning.
5 Books for Growth Mindset
1. Mindset The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.
This book is a great place to start with your reading. Growth mindset was actually developed by Carol Dweck, a psychologist. So this book is the perfect place to start! In this book, Carol tries to explain that people either have a fixed or a growth mindset. People who have a fixed mindset see intelligence as being inherent, they are naturally good at many different things, however, they have no desire, and don’t understand why they need to develop more skills/talents that are beyond their current capabilities
People with a growth mindset see intelligence as something that can constantly be increased, it can flourish through a lot of hard work, resilience and grit.
