Camping Picture Books for Kids
In this blog post today I’m sharing some camping picture books for kids.. These are books that my students have LOVED over the years.. And now I hope I can help build your collection of camping picture books too!
I love to switch out our book library each month and add in new books for themes, events and celebrations that we are working on. Right now I am busy adding some camping books to our library. So it felt like the perfect time to create this blog post.

Llama Llama Loves Camping
My kids LOVE the Llama Llama books, so when I came upon this one.. I knew I had to get it! This book shares Llama Llama’s first camping trip and learning about what seems scary.. Can actually be super fun!

Ernestine has never been camping before but she is SO excited to go! She’s going with her auntie and cousin.. and she is sure she is going to love it! This book is great for teaching all about being open to try new things.

Scaredy Squirrel Goes Camping
Another one that we love.. My kids love Scaredy Squirrel and this book is perfect for encouraging readers to find their own courage and take on their worries!

How Steven the Bear Invented S’mores
This is another new one that we’ve added to our collection… And I absolutely love it!! In this story, when the friends are out camping together.. Steven accidentally invents s’mores! It’s a great read and perfect to pair up with making some s’mores afterwards.

Flashlight
We love this book for being to learn more about what goes on outside at night. It’s a wordless story book so you can really use your imagination with this one… The perfect book for sharing camping adventures.

Good Night Campsite
This book is perfect for exploring and discussing all things camping! We love this one and it’s perfect to expand upon all of our new camping vocabulary that we are learning too.

The Hike
This is one of the newer books that we’ve added to our collection. It’s more of an outdoors-y book rather than camping.. But it’s still perfect for the theme! It’s all about exploring the outdoors and enjoying the process.

Love You S’More
If you love to include s’mores in your camping unit, then you’ll love this picture book! It’s all about two raccoons who insist they love each other s’more.. It’s adorable, and my kids love it!

This Book is a Campsite
This book is amazing and one of our favorites! We love to read this one the day before our end of year camping day and then my students come in to a classroom campsite the next day!

Tidy
This book is all about Pete the badger… He loves everything to be neat and tidy. But this ends up going too far. When he ends up destroying a forest.
