Today I am sharing a sneak peek into my February task boxes with you all. My students respond really well to a task box system. And that’s why I introduced monthly task boxes so that I could rotate through the year and my students wouldn’t get bored.

Valentine’s Day Ten Frame Task Cards
I love grabbing those sweet Valentine’s themed mini erasers from the dollar spot and using them with our ten frame task cards. If I want to add another level, I have my students use jumbo tweezers to pick up the erasers and place them into the ten frames. This is also perfect for my students to work on number formation and recognition.
2D Love Bug Shape Matching Task Cards
I can’t resist including some Valentine’s Day fun into our February task boxes. And these love bug 2D shape matching task cards are perfect! It’s a great opportunity for my students to work on identifying 2D shapes in different situations.
Big and Small Matching Task Cards
Another skill that many of my students need to work on is identifying big and small. This task box is a great way for my students to pay attention to detail with image sizes and recognizing big and small.
Cause and Effect Puzzles
These puzzles are a great way for me to get my students thinking about what happens next in each situation. My students love using the cards to complete each puzzle in this task box set.
Col. Matching Photo Puzzles
I love to try and incorporate photos or real objects into our learning wherever possible. And these photo matching puzzles are a perfect addition to our February task boxes. They’re also great for helping my students to work on their sentence building skills and vocabulary.
Community Helpers Matching Puzzles
This task box is perfect to link in with your community helpers theme. The task cards are designed to get your students thinking about what community helpers do – and identifying who will help them in different situations.
Counting Flowers in the Vase
This task box is another great opportunity for students to work on a range of skills. From counting the flowers in the vase and identifying how many there are. To finding the matching number and number name.
Farm Animal Spelling Activity
A popular theme in February is the farm. And I have students who are trying to really hard to work on their reading and spelling skills. This farm animal spelling activity is a fun and engaging task box that students will love.
Following Instructions – Feed the Farm Animal
Another important skill for my students to work on is the ability to follow instructions. This task box is a great way to get students used to read – or listening to – and following instructions. Students have to feed the farm animals different foods to complete the task. Each task card comes with a visual for students to use as a helpful guide.
Valentine’s Tally Mark Matching Puzzles
I’m also trying to get my students to work on recognizing quantities represented in different ways. So with these puzzles my students have to first of all count the love hearts in the jar.. Then find the matching tally marks.. and then find the matching number. My higher level students will use a dry-wipe pen and write the number in the box instead of using the symbol.
Rooms of House, Object Sorting Task Cards
I also like to incorporate life skills activities whenever I can. And this task box is a great way for my students to get to thinking about what room the objects belong in the house. This is also a great discussion starter.
Those are the task boxes that I have set up in my February task box set for my students to use. Click here to check them out.
