I am so excited to share my free elf hat name craft with you! I spend a lot of time working on names with my students. So I try to find different types of activities to do with them so they don’t get bored. And crafts are the perfect way to keep incorporating name skills!
This elf hat craft is super adorable – and if you don’t want to use names on them – that’s ok too! They’ll still be super cute without. You can also choose to have students write their name on the hat instead of printing out the letters if you want to as well.
At the bottom of this blog post you’ll be able to find the link to go and download this craft for free. But I’m also sharing instructions with you as well as what you’ll need for this craft. I hope that helps!
Materials
You are going to need;
- The elf hat craft template.
- Paper.

- Scissors.
- Glue.
Instructions
- First, click here to go and download your free elf hat name craft.
- On page 2 of this PDF file you will find the crown and the crown extender. You can either print this onto colored card/paper or you can print it on white and then decorate it.
- On page 3 is the elf hat and end. I like to decorate the end with cotton wool. Print these out and decorate.
- On pages 4-6 you will find boxes. You will need to click on each of the boxes to type in a letter of the name. Then print these out.
- Students first decorate the crown, then attach the elf hat and end behind. Attach the letters of their name to the front of the hat so that the boxes spell their name. Finally, measure their head and attach the hat extender to create the right size hat for your student’s head.
I’ve also attached a video below so you can see how the craft is made too!
