I’m so excited to share some free space sensory activities today that I created to use with the amazing products from Zimpli kids. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I’ve discussed Zimpli kids a few times before. I love using these sensory products because they’re always easy to use, stain free and easy to tidy up at the end!
I was gifted some products from Zimpli kids recently, from their space range. And once again they definitely didn’t disappoint! I love making resources to go along with sensory activities to continue and expand my student’s learning. And I decided to share those with you guys for free! What activities did I do? Read below to find out..

I made a fun Instagram reel of the 4 FREE space sensory activities that you can download over on Instagram, or watch below!
Zimpli Kids Items
First of all, the items that Zimple Kids sent me are;
Alien CVC Word Hunt
I used the glitter gelli play in a round sensory tray to make a fun CVC word hunt for my students. Students needed to help the alien find the CVC words and match them to the ones on the worksheet. This is perfect for getting nervous students used to experimenting with new textures.. And a great way to add a fun sensory aspect to your CVC work. Download in the free resource library here.
Planet Facts
This was a fun addition to the sensory tray by just adding some planets with facts about them. Students were able to read – or be read – different facts about the planets and work on identifying the planets and their names. A fun activity to add to your space theme while adding that sensory aspect for your students too! Download in the free resource library here.
Counting Stars on the Moon
This counting activity was so much fun to add to the slime! First of all, this slime is like nothing else you’ve made in your classroom. It comes with crackle and pop sound effects with the little crackling colours and it was a huge hit! The noise effects are really an added bonus. I grabbed some glow in the dark stars from Amazon, added them into the sensory tray and paired them with my free star counting mats. Students had to pull the stars out of the slime and place them onto the moon to match the number requested.
You can also give students jumbo tweezers to use to pick the stars up out of the slime too! Download these free counting mats in my free resource library here.
Colour Hunt!
So, first of all, my students are very visual learners. And I love to provide them with opportunities to see changes taking place in front of them. So, I popped this bath bomb into a bowl of water and let them watch the changes take place! We used these free colour (color) hunt worksheets to identify what colours we could see coming out of the bath bomb, while discussing the changes that we were seeing. We would also pop our hands in and feel the difference in the bath bomb before and after it went into the water. Sooo many great skills to work on with this bath bomb – and I highly recommend grabbing a few to use! Download it here.
Why Zimpli Kids?
There are lots of sensory items out there, so you may be wondering why choose Zimpli kids.. And I’m here to give you some of my favourite reasons of why I always love going to this brand first when I’m purchasing sensory items.
My Top 6 Reasons..
- Their products are 100% safe. This is the biggest factor for me when I’m purchasing sensory items for my classroom. They are tested and are safe for skin, drains and are stain free!
- They go down the drain. Yes, this is a factor for me! There’s nothing worse than trying to get rid of a sensory bin and you don’t know how to do it in the most eco friendly way. With Zimpli kids, you can just add water to dilute the solutions and pop them down the drain! Trust me when I say this is a life saving game changer.
- They’re animal friendly! Over the last few years I’ve really tried to make a conscious effort to be more eco friendly in my teachings and animals come as part of that too! Zimpli Kids products are vegan friendly – they contain no animal products and they are not tested on animals! This is a huge bonus for me.
- They are very affordable. There’s nothing worse than trying to buy sensory products and they’re always so expensive, especially when you want to use them with a classroom of students. Zimpli Kids are always affordable with their products which takes extra pressure off me when I’m purchasing for multiple students!
- Their products go a long way! Their packs make sooo much! Way more than you can imagine – and you can use them in multiple ways and containers with your students.
- I love how all you really need to add to their products are water! Don’t get me wrong, I love to make resources to go along with their items and add in some little extras but it’s really not necessary. You really do get everything you need in the packets that they sell, and the only thing you need to add is water!
These are just some reasons that I love using Zimpli Kids products. If you’re looking for other items I’ve used from them, you can pop over to my Instagram where I’ve shared previous Zimpli Kids products too!
