These frozen fizzing bicarb ghosts are a fun addition to your Halloween science activities. My students love anything that fizzes and erupts… So this time I wanted to change things up a little bit and get us exploring changes. So we decided to try freezing bicarb and make some frozen ghosts to experiment with.
Read on below to find out what you need as well as instructions for how you can try out these frozen fizzing bicarb ghosts with your students too.

- Mix it altogether.
- Pour the mixture into the ice cube tray.
- Place googly eyes on top.
- Pop in the freezer and leave to freeze. We left overnight.
- When ready to use, pop out the ice cubes into a sensory bin.
- Pour distilled vinegar into pippettes or anything you wish to use.
- Students drop the vinegar onto the ‘ghosts’ to help them dissolve/fizz.
Originally we placed the googly eyes in the bottom of the ice cube tray but they float to the top – so add them in last!
