I was at a conference recently when I was asked, “How do I compliment my students?” She was a new teacher and had just started teaching special education. Her students weren’t fans of verbal compliments and didn’t like to be made the center of attention. So she was finding it difficult for ways to compliment them that they appreciated.
We got to talking, and shared about the little compliment cards that I love to use with my students and I ended up sending her a copy. I told her to give them a try and see if her students responded better to receiving cards quietly handed to them, placed on their desk or even slotted in their workbooks.
She reached out to me a few weeks later and told me about how much her students loved the compliment cards and how successful they had been. In her classroom, she then sent the physical card would home so that families got to see the compliment cards too!
That’s when I decided to share these compliment cards online.. And now my little compliment cards are being used by thousands of educators all around the world.. It’s crazy!
What are the Compliment Cards?
The compliment cards are just cards that I print out on bright paper to hand out to students. Each card has a compliment and an image on it to make it visual for learners.
