Today I’m sharing an inside look at my June task boxes that I use with my autistic and special ed. students. Task boxes have been a life saver for me and my students. And I have a set for each month for us to rotate through. This is perfect for keeping my students engaged and stopping them getting bored.

Counting Candles on a Birthday Cake
My students love being able to use play dough and this task box is perfect for working on their counting, number recognition and fine motor skills. I would have loved to use real cakes – but my students would have definitely eaten them before completing the task! Check them out here.
Ladybug Counting
This ladybug counting task box is a fun and engaging way for students to work on their number recognition, counting and fine motor skills. Students need to follow the instruction on each task card and then place that amount of ladybugs (we used red pom poms) onto the leaf. Check them out here.
Caterpillar Counting and Patterns with Play Dough
Again this task box is another great excuse to break out the play dough that my students just love to use so much. This was great for getting my students to really focus on making their play dough the right size balls to fit onto the caterpillar. Plus it got them working on their counting, number recognition and pattern skills. Check them out here.
Caterpillar Counting and Hole Punching
This task box activity is very popular with my students. I just print out a bunch of the leaves and then keep them stored safely in the storage case. Students need to follow the instructions on each task card to punch that amount of holes into the leaf. Then I give my students some green pipe cleaners to thread through the leaf – acting as the caterpillar eating the leaf. Check them out here.
Popcorn Number Recognition
This task box is perfect for me to differentiate for my students different ability levels. For some of my students, I provide them with real popcorn that they use to count out and place onto the matching popcorn boxes – and yes, we do have some ‘taste testers’ to check out popcorn is up to scratch! For my higher level students, I hand them the printed out popcorn pieces that display the number in different ways; on a dice, counting fingers, tally marks etc. Students need to match these to the correct number popcorn pack. Check them out here.
Spelling CVC Words with Play Dough
CVC words are another tough skill for many of my students to master, so I like to try and provide opportunities that get them working on the skill in different ways. In this task box, my students use play dough to form the letters of each CVC word. Check them out here.
Hollywood Ten Frames
I love using these Hollywood themed ten frame task card with my students. First, I have them identify the number on top of the card and then use a dry-wipe pen to form the number. Then, I provide them with either a bingo dabber or mini erasers to put that amount into the ten frame. Check them out here.
Matching Col. Construction Vehicles
My students love all things construction, so these color matching task puzzles are the perfect addition to my June task box. Students need to match the construction vehicles to the same color splat. Check them out here.
Transportation Jigsaw Puzzles
This task box is a great way for me to start introducing puzzles to my students. Students need to find the two matching puzzle pieces to form the different modes of transport. Check them out here.
Word to Picture Transportation
Another skill that I like to work on with my students is to match words to pictures. This lets me see if my students are able to understand the words that they are reading. These transport puzzles are a perfect way to keep my students engaged while working on this. Check them out here.
Transportation Fine Motor Skills
Again, following the transport theme because my students just love it, are these fine motor cards. I use these in different ways with my students. The laminated ones I have my students use dry-wipe pens to go over the lines and then clean them to be re-used again the next time. But I also just print a bunch out and give them to my students with a pair of scissors to cut along the lines to work on their cutting skills too. Check them out here.
Symmetry Drawing
This symmetry task box is actually one of the most popular activities with my students. They love using each task card and drawing on the other side of the line to complete the image. You can also use double sided mirrors to help them. Check them out here.
Those are the task boxes that I have set up in my June task box set for my students to use. Click here to check them out.
