This year we have made some Mother’s Day flower cookies to send home with our students. And I can honestly say they went down a treat with our student’s families! In this blog post today I’m sharing a quick and easy recipe for you to follow so that you can make some of these flower cookies with your students too!

We also melted some chocolate to make chocolate hearts and butterflies, and then we put them into a plastic cone bag with some flower cookies on top. They turned out so good and my student’s were so proud of their baking to send home.
How to Make Flower Cookies
What You need
- 100g butter
- 50g caster sugar
- A couple of drops of vanilla essence
- 175g plain flour
- Icing sugar / pink icing
- Pink food coloring
- Sprinkles
What You Need to Do
- Preheat your oven to 150C
- Mix butter and sugar together
- Add vanilla essence, mix together
- Add the flour, mix together
- Bind together then roll out to approx 5mm depth
- Use a flower cutter to cut out into flower shapes
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden
Once cool, simply mix together some pink icing – or purchase pink icing – and decorate the top of the flower biscuits, then use some hundreds and thousands to decorate on top. Leave to set – either out or into the fridge.
Chocolate Hearts
What You Need
- Moulds – heart and butterfly shapes or whatever shapes you want
- Hundreds and thousands
- White chocolate bars
What You Need to Do
- Sprinkle some hundreds and thousands into the moulds
- Melt the white chocolate and then pour into the moulds
- Leave in the fridge to set
