This Mother’s Day handprint craft is one of my favorite crafts I think we’ve ever done in the classroom. In this blog post today I’m going to share how you can make this handprint craft with your students along with what you’ll need and some of my other favorite Mother’s Day activities to do in the classroom.
I love crafts where my students can make them personal.. And this craft is just that. It was lovely to watch my students really work on trying to get their handprints to look like their mother. And the feedback from their mother’s was so sweet too – they loved this craft!

What You’ll Need
Here are the materials you’ll need to make this craft;
- Pink card
- Paper
- Different color paints
- Stick on flowers
- Stick on hearts
- Googly eyes
- Paintbrush
- ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ print out – or students can write this on themselves.
- Glue
- Black marker
Instructions
- Paint your students hands in two different colours; the hair is going to be the fingers and the face is going to be the palm of the hand. Place the handprint down onto a white piece of card and leave to dry.
- Once dry, cut out the handprint and then stick it down onto pink card.
- Stick on some googly eyes and the heart for the mouth. Use a marker to draw the nose and then add the flower onto the hair.
- Use a pen or print out a ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ sign to put on the bottom.
- Finished!
I requested for families to send in photos of their mom ahead of time. This gave my students a visual for them to look at while they were creating their handprints too.
