I’m so excited to share another online zoom lesson with you all! This week we had a Beauty and the Beast themed online Zoom lesson and it was a huge hit with the students!
I have included affiliate links for the books I used in this blog post below. If you purchase through an affiliate link, I may earn a small % of commission, at no extra cost to yourself.
Story Time
We started off reading the story of the Beauty and the Beast. (Aff. Link).
We love how bright the pictures are in this book, and it’s a great way to start the lesson and ease into the activities.
Building a Castle
Beforehand, I had emailed home this ‘Building a Castle’ 2D shape activity which you can download for free here.
Students cut up the 2D shapes (black and white), then used them to build a castle and colored them in. During this time, I played Beauty and the Beast songs on the computer for them to listen to while they worked. All the students took it in turns to show their finished castles at the end of this activity.
Boom Cards
Next, we spent time playing some Beauty and the Beast themed Boom cards. These are perfect to use on Zoom, and I sent the links home too for parents to use with their students even after our Zoom session had ended.
We started off with this Boom deck. students need to look at who is in the mirror and find the matching image. Check it out here.
Then, we worked on our time recognition and clock matching skills with this fun Boom deck. Check it out here.
Finally, our last Boom cards were these Beauty and the Beast yes or no questions. Check it out here.
Story Time
Then, we had another story. This one is a little bit different, and I’m so glad that I found it – because it was a huge hit with my kids! It’s The Fairytale Hairdresser and Beauty and the Beast. You can find it here on Amazon. (Aff. Link).
We loved all of the illustrations and it’s a lovely story. If you’re teaching Beauty and the Beast – this book should definitely be top of your list!
Post-Lesson
Once the lesson had finished, I sent home copies of these free Color by Number worksheets. (Also come in UK/CAN/AUS spelling; colour.)
The students were able to complete these in their own time, and then I had the parents email me with their completed worksheets. This worked great for my students who wouldn’t have been able to sit through anything else during the Zoom call. Plus, it gave them something to do at home too.
What Zoom lessons have you been doing with your students? Let me know in the comments down below.
