We love making different crafts in our classroom – they get the students working on so many skills! And today I’m sharing some of our Chinese New Year Craft activities for kids that you’ll love to create!
This year is the year of the monkey. And this was great for so many different learning opportunities!
We love to celebrate different holidays and events in our classroom. Here’s a quick photo of some of the crafts we made last year for Chinese New Year.
Shopping
We also love to take this opportunity to extend our learning into the community. We visit a local Chinese store and purchase items for us to taste for our Chinese New Year party. My kids love going shopping and finding new foods to try.
Cookery
This year for our cookery, we made Chinese pizza! My kids had the best time making these pizzas, chopping up different foods and using ingredients. My kids were also great at tasting these pizzas too!
Crafts
One of my favourite craft activities to make is the Chinese lantern.
These lanterns are quick and easy to make, plus they look great on display.

I love the addition of glitter around the edges of your lanterns – that just takes it to another level. Thank you for sharing your ideas!
