This St. David’s Day daffodil craft is perfect to do with your students to celebrate this March. In this blog post today I’m going to be sharing instructions for how you can make this craft with your students, along with what you’ll need. You’ll also find links to more of my St David’s Day activities.. And my must-have essentials to make arts and crafts easier in my classroom.
WHAT IS ST. DAVID’S DAY?
St. David’s Day is a Welsh national holiday celebrated on March 1st each year. This is to celebrate and remember Saint David, the patron saint of Wales.
To celebrate this day, across welsh there will be various festivities that showcase Welsh culture, heritage, and traditions.
Materials Needed
- White card
- Yellow card – needs to be bigger than the white
- Water
- Green paint
- Yellow paint
- Orange paint
- Glue
- Paintbrushes
Instructions
- Mix a small amount of green paint with water.
- Student’s paint the watery green paint onto the white card and leave to dry.
- When dry, students dip their fingers into yellow and orange paint to place onto the card to make daffodils.
- When dry, dip a paintbrush into yellow / orange paint and place into the middle of the fingerprint daffodils. Put orange in the middle of yellow daffodils.. And yellow in the middle of orange daffodils.
- Leave to dry. When dry, stick the card onto yellow card.
