There comes a time, when our students move on to the next teacher, school or education professional. And you may be stuck wondering what information to pass on with them.. and how are you going to do it? Don’t stress! In this blog post today I’m talking about sharing information with teachers and how you can do it. And I’ve even included a free download for you to use!
You see, there’s always so much data and information that we collect on our students. And it’s easy for there to be too much information collected and passed on.
Then, when a student comes into your classroom, you may be looking through piles and piles of paperwork. And then you don’t know where to event start with it all. And this is when vital information about our students may be missed.
How to Share Information
When sharing information, of course it’s important to pass on everything about our students. And that can quickly add up to a mountain of paperwork. However, we also want the most important pieces to stand out. And down below I’ve attached an example of how we pass on information about our students.
This sheet is super simple and quick to put together. But it also means that we are able to pass on the most important details for the next teacher and education professional to have access to. We keep this as a working document, meaning that we can add and change things as needed.
Sometimes, a like can turn into a dislike. A weakness can become a strength. And strategies for behaviour and communication may change. And it’s ok to change this when needed.
What Information is Important?
In the photo above, you can see some of the suggested information that I think should be included on this page. But you can also add other information that you think is important for your student.
You may be wondering – what’s important? Anything that you think someone needs to know in order to help the student reach their fullest potential. Whether it’s something that’s a trigger for them. Or a strategy that works well for them. Have a chat with the staff in your team – what do they think is important to know about this student?
Having this will also mean that you’re less likely to have that teacher back and fore asking for information. And, it means that the student is more likely to succeed.
How do you pass information on about your students to the next teacher? I’d love to hear how you do it! Leave a comment down below. And if you found this resource helpful, be sure to share with your friends and colleagues.
