These 20 Easter adapted books are perfect to use in special education and autism classrooms. These adapted books come in a range of levels for your students to work on their;

  • language,
  • vocabulary,
  • reading,
  • symbol recognition and
  • sentence building skills.

As well as coming in a range of levels, these adapted books also target a range of skills. This includes math skills. Because of the range of levels, your students will be able to progress with their sentence building skills in an engaging and hands-on way.

Adapted books are a great way to;

  • encourage students to pay close attention to detail
  • start to link vocabulary to the images that they see.
Each adapted book comes with symbols as well as a ‘base page.’ The base page is where the symbols can be stored when not in use and your students select the symbols from here to use in the adapted books. As a result of storing your symbols on a base page, you minimise the risk of losing any pieces.

All the adapted books come in both col and b/w option for your printing preference. Spelling is available to suit both colour/color, grey/gray etc.

    Level 3 – “five rabbits in the bush” “ten rabbits in the bush” etc.

    Level 3 – “4 spotty eggs”, “8 stripy eggs” etc.

  • Prepositions

    Level 1 – ‘the rabbit is behind the ____’ – fill in the gap. One box/symbol, rest of sentence is already written.

    Level 2 -the ___ is _____ the ______’ fill in the gap. I.e the egg is in front of the rabbit. Fill in two boxes/symbols. Rest is ready written.

How will they work?

These adapted books are great to help students build up and work on their sentences. They will also encourage your students to select the correct words (symbols). Then, they match these to the picture they are looking at. Because of all this, the adapted books will help your students to build appropriate sentences.
