Description
This groundhog day counting activity is fun and engaging to work on counting and math skills. It will also help you to expand your teaching of groundhog day into other areas of learning.
Your students are going to love moving around the room – or within a sensory tray – to find the different task cards. Students then need to count the amount of images on the task card and record this on their recording sheet.
There are 20 different counting task cards included. All the images included on the task cards are groundhog day related.
This activity comes in 2 different levels of difficulty. The easiest level is using cards 1-10. The harder level is using cards 1-20. We have also included 2 different difficulty level recording sheets.
All cards are ready numbered. This makes it easier for your students to record their answers on the recording sheets. Each card contains a ten frame up to 20.
An answer key is on the bottom two pages of the recording sheet PDF file.
Instructions are also included on first pages of each PDF document. This download includes two PDF documents. One for the flashcards and one for the recording sheets.
I recommend laminating each of the individual cards. This will make them stronger and longer lasting.
You can hide these flashcards anywhere you want to get the students active and moving about. Some example are:
- Around the classroom
- Outdoor play area
- In a tough tray
- In a sensory tub
- etc.
This is a great way to keep students engaged while working on their counting skills.
