Description
This social story is a great read for students who may need some support with coping with having a supply teacher and understanding that the supply teacher is there to help and support them, also how this may make them feel.
Many students with autism are visual learners and like to learn through seeing something in action. This book comes complete with matching, simple yet engaging graphics to help describe what is being said on the page.
Comes in col option only – no b/w availability, however you can print in grayscale.
Pages included are;
♦ In school I have a great teacher!
♦ I like seeing my teacher everyday.
♦ But, sometimes my teacher might not be feeling well.
♦ Or my teacher might have to go somewhere.
♦ My teacher is having a baby and she needs to stay home for a while.
♦ My teacher might have to go on a training course, to teach us new ideas.
♦ This means my teacher won’t be in class.
♦ This might upset me and I might find it hard.
♦ We may have a supply teacher instead of our normal teacher.
♦ This might make me feel nervous.
♦ But the supply teacher is here to help me.
♦ The supply teacher might be male or female.
♦ They are going to teach me the work left by my normal teacher.
♦ If I get stuck, I can ask the supply teacher for help.
♦ The supply teacher might feel nervous because they are new.
♦ I can help them and show them where things are.
♦ I should also be good and listen to what the supply teacher says.
♦ Soon, my normal teacher will be back in school.
♦ If I am good for the supply, my normal teacher will be so happy!
I recommend printing out each of the individual pages, laminating them and then binding them into a book so it will be easier for students to read – or be read to, as well as being stronger and longer lasting.
