Description
This similes sentence matching activity is a great way to have students work on their understanding of similes and matching sentences to the correct image. This requires students to not only read (or be read) the sentence, but also to take in the information that they are reading and to understand what the words/sentences are.
The similes included are:
• As busy as a bee
• As cute as a button
• As fresh as a daisy
• As funny as a clown
• As greedy as a pig
• As happy as a hippo
• As poor as a church mouse
• As pretty as a picture
• As quick as lightning
• As sick as a dog
• As slow as a tortoise
• As strong as an ox
• As stubborn as a mule
• As tall as a giraffe
• Like a bull in a china shop
Instructions
• Print out each of the pages
• Cut out and laminate each of the individual sentence strips and image cards
• Students match the image cards to the sentence strip
I recommend using velcro on the image cards and in the box on the end of the sentence strip so that students can match the image to sentences and keep them secure.
