I love to rotate through my classroom library so that my students can continue their learning in different areas. 1. Someone is Eating the Sun
Hen Rooster, Duck, Pig, and Goat all panic when they witness an eclipse of the sun. Hen thinks someone has taken a bite out of the sun and tells all of the other animals. When it’s over, they celebrate together.

2. The Day the Sun Disappeared
My students love the animals in this book. When it gets dark in the middle of the day, all of the day time animals get confused.. And then the night time animal wake up.. But they are still sleepy! And then the sun re-emerges from the eclipse.. This is a fun book for explaining about the eclipse to students.

3. The Big Eclipse
This book is perfect for teaching about what causes eclipses and the strange effects of them. My students love learning about what the hippos do when day turns to night. And it’s great for reminding us how to protect our eyes when we’re looking at the eclipse.

4. Sun & Moon: A Giant Love Story
A girl giant, afraid of the light, and a boy giant, afraid of the dark, live lonely lives following only the moon or the sun until an eclipse brings them together.

5. The Day My Dogs Became Guys
When an eclipse of the sun turns Carey’s three dogs–Butch, DeeDee, and Ol Ed–into people! This book is a fun one to include in your solar eclipse bookshelf.

6. Total Solar Eclipse: A Stellar Friendship Story
This book covers safety around the eclipse, but also the importance of envy and friendships. We love this one and I think it’s a must-have to include in your classroom library.

7. A Few Beautiful Minutes: Experiencing a Solar Eclipse
This book covers what happens during a solar eclipse.. With the sun vanishing and the light becoming dark. It coves what people do, and animals.. and how the world changes.
