I will keep using Boom Cards after distance learning is finished with my students? Do you want to know why? If so, hold tight because I’m about to share my reasons with you.
1. They’re Interactive
My kids can get distracted very easily. So it’s important that when I’m coming up with work activities – they hold their attention. Boom Cards are so interactive and engaging that my students are constantly paying attention to them.
They can work for longer. There’s opportunities for them to interact in different wants. And all of these are working on different skills.
2. They Encourage Independence
Independence is one of the biggest skills that I like to work on with my students. I don’t want them to have to rely on someone else. They deserve to be given the tools needed to help them become independent learners. And Boom Cards are perfect for this!
So often now I am able to set up Boom Cards on an iPad or computer and let my students loose. They love the independence of working their way through it – and so do I!
3. Work On a Range of Skills
Like I mentioned in point 1, there are so many skills for students to work on. Even things like;
- Reading.
- Listen to and following directions.
- Mouse skills.
- Typing.
- Computer skills.
- Fine motor skills.
- Answering questions.
- And that’s without the skills that the Boom deck is targeted for working on too!
4. Can Be Used On a Range of Devices
Yess! This is probably one of the best parts. It doesn’t have to be used just on a computer. You can use it on tablets, computers, laptops.. This is perfect for me to be able to find the suitable device for my individual learners. I have students who can only use the IWB right now, I have students who prefer to be on the iPad.. And then I have students who are learning to type on the computer. Boom Cards are perfect for making differentiation super easy for me.
5. Easy Data Collection
Who doesn’t love easy data collection? I love that with Boom Cards you can track students progress, see the reports, and have all that data on hand – without actually having to do anything extra!
6. No Prep!
Can we get a HALLELUJAH? These days, more than ever, time is not something to joke about with. Finding great resources that require no prep is tough. But Boom Cards are just that! Load it to the library, and get your kids on them and done! Something you can easily get assistants to help set up too.
7. Perfect for Sub Days
Because of the ease of Boom Cards – they are a God send for those days when you’re off – or even if you’re just out of the classroom. Another great reason to have the staff in your room used to using Boom Cards.. Because then they’ll know how to get them set up for your students ready!
Plus with the huge amount of Boom Cards available to download – you can easily find ones with the the skills you want to work on and get them added to your library within seconds.
8. Suitable For a Range of Ability Levels
Again – just like being able to differentiate with the devices.. You can also differentiate with the Boom decks you have set up. Perfect for being able to zone in and target individual student abilities.
9. Planning is Made EASY!
Planning can be tough. But Boom Cards has definitely made that so much easier! I’m able to have more things on hand that require no prep. If something changes last minute – that’s ok, I can quickly grab a Boom Deck and put that to use.
10. My Kids LOVE Them!
Seriously. They have been the biggest hit. I’d not really used Boom Cards before the pandemic hit. But when it did and we were all thrown into distance learning, I knew I had to take action!
From the very first day of using Boom Cards with my students, they were obsessed! They love them all. And that’s the best part – because when my students are having fun and enjoying – learning becomes a whole much better experience for everyone involved!
So those are 10 reasons why I’m going to continue to use Boom Cards even when distance learning is finished. Have you tried Boom Cards yet? Let me know in the comments section down below. I’m also going to attach some helpful links below for you to check out too.
