We love to bake, especially when we can theme it throughout the year. So, this year for our Valentine’s Day baking session, we had the kids make heart shaped tomato pizzas. They were great to have as a snack to warm us up, and it was a great way for my kids to learn to make another type of food.
A lot of people believe that cooking in classrooms are just for sweet treats and desserts. But, you can use it for so many other opportunities too! Cooking is also a great way for us to get our kids used to holding and touching different textures. This is when our kids will try smelling and tasting different foods too – which is huge for them.
Ingredients
- Pizza base – you could make this, but we buy the ready made ones just because my kiddos aren’t quite ready for the full process of that yet.
- Tomato puree.
- Grated cheese – either buy pre-grated or help your kiddos grate it.
- Oven.
- Heart shape cutter.
Directions
- Spread tomato puree across your pizza base.
- Sprinkle grated cheese over the pizza base.
- Put into the oven to cook.
- Once cooked, leave to cool. Then, use your heart cutter to cut the pizza into small heart shapes.
You can either re-heat the pizzas up for snack or eat them cool. Let me know in the comments if you have any special Valentine’s Day baking ideas.
