Today I’m sharing this fun painting stones craft activity that we did in our classroom. We recently went on a field trip to the beach – and my students loved it! While we were there we picked up some different items, including seaweed (click here to see how we used it for painting) and stones. In this blog post today I’m going to be talking about how we used the stones as part of our craft activity.
Making Stone People
Since we used the seaweed as part of our self-portrait activities.. We decided to turn our stones into their own little ‘stone people’ too!
Materials Needed
- Paint
- PVA Glue
- Googly Eyes
- Black Sharpie
Instructions
- First we painted the rocks. Leave to dry.
- When dry, we used a Sharpie pen to draw a nose and/or smile. Leave to dry.
- Next we painted a layer of PVA glue over the stone to seal everything. Leave to dry.
- Finally we glued some googly eyes onto the stones to complete the face.
My students had so much fun getting to make their own stone people.. And there’s so many different crafts you can do at home with stones too!
