This week we went on a field trip to the beach. While we were there we picked up some seaweed. Back in the classroom we then did some painting with seaweed!
My students LOVE going to the beach, and we are blessed with some amazing beaches around us. As part of our art therapy sessions, we are always looking for different items to incorporate into our sessions. And the beach is actually the perfect place for this. This week we grabbed some seaweed and took it back to our classroom.
Painting with Seaweed
We gave the seaweed a bit of a wash, dried it up and added it to our next art therapy session.
My students LOVED getting to paint with seaweed instead of paintbrushes.. And it gives a great different effect to how our crafts turn out.
For this session, we were making self-portraits. Students ten dipped seaweed into different color paints and then dipped the seaweed into them. Then, students used the seaweed to dab onto their self portraits to make hair.
