Halloween Adapted Books for Special Education
These 19 adapted books are a fun and engaging way for students to work on a variety of different skills in a Halloween theme. Students can work on English and Math targets in an adapted way suitable for Special Education or Autism classrooms.Â
The books come in a variety of different levels to differentiate for individual learners abilities and will allow your students to progress through the stages of harder books as they go along.
Each adapted book comes in the theme of Halloween and are great to pull out year after year – no more worrying about making new resources each year when you have these ready made and stored.

Students fill in the blank using symbols i.e ‘The _______ is ________ the _______’ etc.
♦ Prepositions Level 3 – six symbols
‘The cat is next to the witch’ ‘The ghost is above the table’ etc.
♦ What shape is the vampire? Level 1 – one symbol.
‘square’ ‘rectangle’ etc. – all 2D shapes.
♦ What shape is the pumpkin? Level 2 – two symbols.
‘square pumpkin’ ‘circle pumpkin’ etc – all 2D shapes.
♦ Making a potion
Students read (or be read) the sentence on top of the page and then find the matching symbol to add to the witch’s cauldron.
♦ Wh- Questions
Students read – or be read – the sentence and question on this page and then find the correct, matching symbol to answer the wh- question.
♦ Trick-or-Treating
Students read – or be read – the information on the page and then find the correct, matching symbol.
Each adapted books comes with instructions included on the first page on how you can put the book together and use it with your students.
The vocabulary included suits both spellings of colour and color.
Adapted books are a great way for students to work on their vocabulary skills, picture and symbol recognition skills and developing sentence building skills.Â
