After much thinking, we decided on sun catchers. You can make sun catchers as bright as you want and in so many different themes. We use them throughout the year – even in the Winter, because it adds a nice touch to our windows. Every month we make new sun catchers in different themes. These can be our classroom themes or the current season/holidays.
One of the best things about these crafts are that they are quick to put together too. Our students have difficulty waiting – they’re still only little – so we prep our crafts in advance. So, we choose an image that we are going to down, cut out the stencil and get the tissue paper ready. Then, we have our students sit down with the craft items ready and they can work on putting it together. As the year goes on, we make it more and more independent – where they can go get their tissue paper etc.
Once the students have decorated their pictures with tissue paper, we laminate them. Once laminated, they go up on our windows. By putting them on our window, we can also pull the blinds down to hide them. This is great if they get too much for our students to handle. You can see some of our sun catchers below that we have completed over the year.
How do you decorate your classroom?
