About Me – Nikki Robertson, Founder of Teaching Autism
Welcome to Teaching Autism! I’m Nikki Robertson, an internationally recognized autism education expert (although I hate the word expert!) and the creative force behind this platform. With over a decade of hands-on experience in autism and special education, I’ve dedicated my career to transforming learning environments and empowering educators around the globe.
My Mission
I believe that every child has the potential to thrive when given the right tools, strategies, and support tailored to their unique needs. My passion lies in creating engaging, student-led resources that promote independence, confidence, and a love of learning for our students. ‘Teaching Autism’ is here to help educators like you achieve less stress and more success in your classrooms, allowing you to focus on what truly matters—helping your students reach their full potential.
I am also deeply committed to supporting educators by providing practical tools, innovative strategies, and a community of like-minded professionals. My goal is to empower you with the resources and confidence you need to navigate the challenges of special education while celebrating the incredible impact you make in your students’ lives every day.
My Story
I think my passion for special education probably began during my early teaching career when I worked with a student who faced significant challenges in communication. Witnessing their progress as they gained independence through tailored strategies lit a fire in me to support other educators on the same journey. This experience inspired me to create ‘Teaching Autism’, a platform dedicated to providing the tools and resources educators need to make a meaningful difference in their students’ lives.
What Makes Me Different?
From crime scene transformations and sensory DIY to mock weddings, I bring innovation and creativity to every learning opportunity. My unique, hands-on teaching approach has gained recognition worldwide for making learning not just accessible but unforgettable. By blending creativity with proven strategies, I’ve helped countless students embrace education and succeed in ways they never thought possible.
