Handprint Daffodil Craft for St. David’s Day
St. David’s Day is a big deal in Wales, and what better way to celebrate than with a fun, hands-on craft? This Handprint Daffodil Craft is a perfect way to get little ones engaged while also working on their fine motor skills, sensory exploration, and creativity. Plus, it’s a great keepsake to remember this special day!

Supplies You’ll Need:
- Printable Daffodil Template (available in my Free Resource Library!)
- Yellow, green, and orange paint
- Foam brushes or sponges
- A small plate for paint
- Paper towel or wipes (because, let’s be honest, things might get messy!)
- A marker or crayon (optional, for tracing letters)
How to Make Your Handprint Daffodil
- Print the Template – Download the free template from my Free Resource Library and print it on standard A4 paper or cardstock for extra durability.
- Paint the Daffodil Yellow – Use a sponge or foam brush to paint inside the outline of the daffodil. This is great for developing brush control and hand-eye coordination!
- Handprint the Middle – Here’s where the fun really begins! Paint your child’s hand with orange paint and press it onto the paper below the flower to create the middle of the daffodil.
- Let It Dry – This part is important (and sometimes the hardest for excited little hands!). Once dry, you can outline the daffodil with a black marker or let your child trace over the letters at the bottom to practice early writing skills.
- Show It Off! – Display your masterpiece somewhere special to celebrate St. David’s Day. You could even laminate it to keep it safe!
