And each year we love taking hands-on learning to the next level by growing our own caterpillars and watching them transition through each stage—from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies! Not only is this an incredible experience for our students, but it’s also a fantastic way to reinforce science concepts through observation and hands-on activities.

Why Raise Butterflies?

I have been doing this activity for years, and it’s always a huge success! Well.. Don’t get me wrong. We had some teething issues and if you’re on my email list, I’m sure you’ve had some giggles at how it’s gone for us some years! But, this is still an amazing activity to do each year. Watching caterpillars transform into butterflies never fails to amaze our students, and it’s a fantastic way to develop patience, curiosity, and a love for nature. Some of the key benefits include:
