Spring is here, which means it’s time for all things Easter, chocolate, and classroom fun! If you’re looking for a super easy activity to get your students engaged and moving, you’re in the right place.

I’ve put together a Free Easter Egg Classroom Hunt that’s perfect for special education students, younger learners, or really any class that loves a good scavenger hunt! Best of all? It’s FREE and ready for you to download today. Read on below to find out how to use this resource and where you can download it to use with your students.. for free!
Why You’ll Love This Easter Egg Hunt
This isn’t just a “find the eggs and get a prize” kind of hunt. It’s a structured, interactive learning activity that helps your students practice a ton of different skills while having fun.
- Gets Students Moving – Perfect for those wiggly little ones who need to burn some energy!
- Encourages Problem-Solving – Each clue leads to the next hiding spot, making your students think and reason.
- Builds Literacy Skills – Clues are written in simple rhyming sentences, so students practice reading and comprehension.
- Promotes Teamwork – Students work together, take turns, and communicate as they search.
- Supports Fine Motor & Writing Skills – Students record letters on their answer sheets to crack a secret message.
- It’s Just Plain Fun! – Because who doesn’t love an Easter egg hunt?
By the end of the hunt, students will have collected letters from each egg to unscramble and reveal a secret word—”HAPPY EASTER!” (Or, if you want, you can hide the eggs in order so they don’t have to unscramble it.)
How to Use This Easter Hunt in Your Classroom
This activity is super simple to set up and takes just a few minutes to prep! Here’s how it works:
Teacher Walkthrough – Easter Classroom Hunt
Before the Hunt
1. Print out the “Letter from the Easter Bunny” – You can place it in a decorative envelope or just read it aloud to introduce the activity. (Trust me, adding a little “magical” touch makes it even more exciting for students!)
2. Print and cut out the clue cards – Place them around the classroom in their designated spots. For example:
- Clue 1 (starting point) goes with the letter from the Easter Bunny.
- Clue 2 is hidden on a chair.
- Clue 3 is by the bookshelf.
- And so on!
3. Hide the letter eggs – You can tape the letters onto plastic eggs or just place them inside. Each letter helps spell out the secret word!
4. Give students their answer sheets – This is where they’ll record the letters they find.
I have also included some magnifying glasses with visuals of where the next clue is for students who may need some support. These are optional to use but can come in handy for differentiating.

During the Hunt
- Read the Letter from the Easter Bunny to set the stage.
- Students follow the clues, finding eggs and writing down the letters inside.
- At the end, they unscramble the letters to figure out the secret word (or just hide the letters in order if you want to keep things simpler!).
Optional: Add a little prize or treat at the final location—stickers, small toys, or a fun classroom privilege (extra free play time, anyone?).
Easter Hunt Clue Examples
Here are a few of the clues your students will be solving:

- “Crayons, pencils, and markers too, I hold them all for you!” (Art supplies area)
- “I have numbers and hands, I tell you the time. Find me high on the wall, I help things run fine!” (Clock)
There are 11 clues total, leading students all over the classroom on an exciting Easter-themed adventure!
