Step-by-Step Instructions

1: Cut Out the Flower Pot

  • Use brown construction paper to cut out a flower pot shape.
  • Fold the top edges slightly outward to give it a realistic 3D effect.
  • Decorate the pot with stickers, hearts, or doodles if desired.

2: Create the Tulips

  • Fold a piece of red, pink, or yellow paper in half.
  • Cut out a tulip shape, keeping the fold intact so the flower has a 3D pop-up effect.
  • Make three tulips for the bouquet.

3: Add the Stems & Leaves

  • Use green pipe cleaners or strips of green paper for the stems.
  • Glue the stems coming out of the pot so they look like real flowers.
  • Cut out green paper leaves and glue them onto the stems.

4: Attach the Tulips

  • Glue the tulip flowers to the top of the stems, pressing down gently.
  • If using folded tulips, only glue one side down so they pop up slightly for a 3D effect.

5: Add a Personal Touch!

  • Spell out “MOM” on the flower pot using Scrabble letter stickers, markers, or foam letters.
  • Let kids write a special message inside the card for their mom.
  • Optional: Add glitter, rhinestones, or extra decorations to make the craft extra special!

Ways to Adapt This Craft for Different Learning Needs

This craft is versatile and can be adjusted to fit different abilities and age levels:

Younger Kids or Those Needing Extra Support:

  • Use pre-cut tulips, leaves, and flower pots instead of having kids cut them out.
  • Let them use stickers or pre-made decorations instead of drawing or writing.
  • Offer hand-over-hand support when gluing and assembling.

Kids Who Love Art & Creativity:

  • Let them paint their own tulips instead of using paper cutouts.
  • Add real fabric or felt flowers for a textured 3D effect.
  • Use patterned scrapbook paper for the flower pot to make it extra stylish.

For a Literacy Connection:

  • Have kids write a short poem or thank-you note inside the card.
  • Create a list of things they love about their mom and attach it to the back of the craft.
  • Practice letter writing by starting with “Dear Mom,” and ending with “Love, [child’s name]”.
